So I’ve been just a tad negligent in my inspirational music posts for the last few weeks. But not to fear. The music is back.
Med students work hard. Really hard. So it’s only logical that for all that working hard, we party just as hard. I would say we party even harder than we work. I personally don’t since I’m a big lame-o, but my classmates sure do. And it just shocks me sometimes how wild we get. Almost shameful, really. But, hey, we deserve it. In honor of our work hard, party hard ethic, my song for this week is the classic Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Because med students just want to have fun.

- inspirational music for the medical student 1.16I guess I've been kind of beating up on med students lately, what with calling them vain and everything (but it's true!). It's time to get back to helping my fellow med student make it through med school by providing them with real inspirational music. The songs today are actually suggestions from a reader (yay!) and they all seem to be rather...inspirational. Because med students need a lot of inspiration sometimes. Especially right before the last exam of a long exam week. Or after being bashed by their warm and fuzzy doctoring class facilitators. Or after being on-call. So the songs are: Eminem - Sing for the Moment, Aerosmith - Dream On, and Vivaldi - Summer. The first two songs are about doing your best and pursuing your dreams, something that we're obviously doing as we struggle through med school. The last song is a classical piece that's good to listen to if you need a little push as you're heading down that last couple of hours before an exam. Thanks for the suggestions! Keep them coming!...
- inspirational music for the medical student 1.5Gaaaaaaaaaaah!!! I hate my website hosting place! My site keeps going down at the most inopportune times, like right when I'm pressing the "publish" button on my inspirational music post last night!!! And it stayed down, so my apologies for not having a post yesterday. Here it is now. It's time for another edition of inspirational music for the med student. My song of choice for today is: All American Rejects – Dirty Little Secret. Why you ask? Because we all have dirty little secrets that we hide from each other, patients, professors, and admissions committees! These secrets can be as harmless as the fact that we're obsessed with Pokemon, as annoying as the fact that we're closet gunners, or they can be downright ethically wrong such as cheating on exams (sorry, I know we all want to think that doctors are morally superior people, but the reality is that not all of them are). So here's to dirty little secrets and the med students who have them! By the way, the album that this song comes from is quite awesome too, much better than their previous album. As always, feel free to submit song suggestions through the contact form. </p>...
- inspirational music for the medical student 2.2It's been awhile since I've actually chosen truly "inspiring" songs for this series. So today, my song choice is nobodyknows - Hero's Come Back (and no, that's not a typo), which is the current opening theme for Naruto Shippuuden, a Japanese anime series that I'm watching. It's mostly in Japanese, but it's pretty inspirational...a little something to get us all going as we head into first or second year, the USMLE Step 1, and the wards.
