Hi,
I just wanted to say thank you for posting these blogs. I am currently a premed undergrad and it’s inspiring to read about these real-life anecdotes from someone who has already gone through so much and on her way to getting an MD/PhD!

Yeah…that’s what I thought too. But I’ve found that research involves making a lot of connections and getting your name out there…which is quite hard for me since I’m so bad at making conversation. And the few presentations I make per year are pure torture. At least I got myself out of the teaching requirement…

Hehe. As a fellow introvert, I’ve found that a lot of careers suck for introverts. Working in research has been my best job so far, as long as you don’t have to do a crapload of teaching or presentations, it’s okay.

Hi, I’ve been reading your blogs for the past year since they are largely responsible in keeping me from pulling my hair out due to med school applications and research. Now, I’m a big fan of your writing. So I just want to wish you much luck with the paper writing. It takes me forever to do those. Oh, and I know you are super busy now but if possible, I was wondering if you can post more stories about ur crazy in-laws and amusing stories.

Yup, just the average PhD itself is 5.5. Its not that I’m not jaded, just stubborn I guess Maybe you’ll decide to go back into academics later… or maybe not…
